On Friday, January 15, 2010, the Faculty and Engineering Society will host You're Next! 2010: The University of Toronto Science and Engineering Career Exposition, which is anticipated to be Canada’s largest student-run one-day career event.

The event invites all undergraduates in Engineering and science Faculties, graduate students, and new alumni to learn more about employment opportunities after graduation or during summer. The event is a joint venture between Engineering, the Engineering Career Centre, the U of T Career Centre, and Computer Science, Physical Sciences and Life Sciences.

The student organizers are planning to recruit at least 60 more companies than last year, anticipating a total of 100 companies to participate. In addition to this growth, the event will be located in the University’s Examination Centre on McCaul Street.

“This is an excellent opportunity for companies from all over the world to connect with the nation's best and brightest minds in the technical field,” said Jonathan Asmis, former President of the Engineering Society, current MEng student who is leading the organization of the Career Exposition. “Whether you are looking to hire summer students, co-op interns or fulltime employees, this is a great opportunity to make lasting connections. I would encourage all faculty to extend this invitation to the companies they work closely with, and to also mention this great opportunity to students.”

In addition to the Career Exposition, students will have the opportunity to participate in career-building workshops the week leading up to the event.

This is one of two Engineering career fair events. The Civil/Mineral Engineering Career Fair is scheduled for Thursday, January 7, 2010.
