Proposed positioning statement for input

It is vital to note the positioning statement does not replace our Faculty’s vision or mission; supports them for communication purposes to external audiences. The position is intended to be our platform of unique attributes that form a set of key messages, supported by statements that prove each message. The positioning statement is a broad vision for how we communicate with our target audiences. This statement will evolve and change over time and is open to further wordsmithing.

Vision

The Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering will be a leader among the world’s best Schools of Engineering in its discovery, creation and transfer of knowledge and technology through teaching and research.

Mission
  1. To discover and share knowledge with students by offering undergraduate, professional, and graduate degree programs of the highest quality in an environment that provides immersion in world-class research and ensures a supportive student experience.

  2. To ensure our students are equipped with the academic leadership, communication skills and globalization awareness required by the engineering profession, and society in general.

  3. To discover new knowledge and to contribute to society through advanced research, innovation and technology transfer.

  4. To realize an exemplary degree of citizenship and ethical behaviour among our faculty, staff, alumni and students.
