Alessandro Ariza

Alessandro Ariza is a senior Engineering student who helps his peers appreciate and express themselves through art.

Alessandro has contributed an incredible amount of work to the arts over his years at U of T. He joined the Skule™ Orchestra during its founding year, and has remained an integral member of the ensemble. Alessandro also spearheaded the creation of the Skule™ Arts Festival, an event that showcases the artistic talents of Engineering students in all forms, including music, dance, poetry, painting, sketch, digital art and more. Other accomplishments include:

  • Member of the Skule™ Nite orchestra, 2005-2009
  • Promotions director of the Skule™ Orchestra, 2006-2008
  • Musical director of Skule™ Nite, 2008
  • Introduced new events including a Pops Concert, 2008
  • Conductor of the Skule™ Orchestra, 2008-2009
  • Member of the Skule™ Choir, 2008-2009
  • Founded the Skule™ Orchestra String Quartet, 2009

L.E. (Ted) Jones Award of Distinction

This award was established to acknowledge the contributions of Professor Emeritus L.E. (Ted) Jones on his long and distinguished career, serving students, alumni and the Faculty. It also pays tribute to his continuing support and dedication to the Engineering Society and the University of Toronto Engineering Alumni Association. The Award recognizes and champions Ted’s great appreciation of the arts and his love of music.
