Engineering Alumni Hall of Distinction Award | Peter Halsall | CivE 7T7, MASc 8T0

Peter Halsall

As a highly skilled leader, Peter Halsall focuses on creating opportunities for people to achieve extraordinary goals.

Since 1994, when he became the President of Halsall Associates, Peter has strived to build a better path for the company and its employees – first by creating an environment that builds exceptional careers, and second by giving the company a direction that positively impacts the community. Halsall Associates has since grown from a 65-person firm with offices in Ottawa and Toronto to an internationally recognized company of over 300 employees with offices across the country and landmark projects around the world.

At the start of the new millennium, Peter made the greening of Halsall’s processes a priority, engaging employees in building eco-friendly expertise for businesses and buildings years before the marketplace knew it had need for green consulting. By spearheading the change of how buildings are built, communities are designed, and companies are run, Peter has everyone focused on giving back to the earth. Other accomplishments include:

  • Engineering Alumni Association 2T5 Mid-Career Award, 2002
  • Member of the Chairman’s Advisory Board for Civil Engineering at U of T, 2004 to present
  • U of T Arbor Award, 2005
  • The Engineering Member of the WATERFRONToronto Design Review Panel, 2005-2009
  • City of Toronto Design Review Panel, 2007 to present
