Lessons from a Mega Project

Gain practical insights from the airport overhaul.

Join us for lunch on January 9 to hear Lloyd A. McCoomb share his firsthand experience in overseeing the 4.5 billion dollar expansion and facelift of Toronto-Pearson International Airport.

Among the many challenges involved, the airport maintained service to 25 million passengers while essentially reinventing the entire facility. The lessons learned from this project could be applied to future endeavours as Canada confronts major challenges in infrastructure restoration, renewal and expansion.

  McCoomb

McCoomb has over forty years of experience in transportation management and is the former president and CEO of the Greater Toronto Airports Authority. He currently chairs the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority and serves as an adjunct professor in the U of T’s Department of Civil Engineering.

Hosted by the Class of 5T3, the Skule Lunch and Learn Series is a monthly luncheon where alumni can get together and share memories while finding out more about U of T Engineering and the broader world. Find out about past speakers here, and learn more about the series and its history on the U of T Engineering website.
