Call for Nominations: Agnes Kaneko Award

The Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering is now accepting nominations for the 2008-2009 Agnes Kaneko Award. This annual award was established in 1990 to recognize particularly outstanding contributions from members of the Faculty’s administrative/technical staff. It was named in memory of Mrs. Agnes Kaneko (1937-1989), a secretary and administrative assistant in the Department of Civil Engineering from 1973 to 1989.

The award, which consists of a certificate and an award of $500, will be presented to a member of the Faculty’s administrative/technical staff who has demonstrated outstanding contributions to the Faculty. The following criteria will be used to evaluate the candidates: contribution to their department and record of achievement, the quality of the letters of support, contributions beyond their department, evidence of growth and development, and length of service.

A letter of nomination from the nominator and evidence of support should be submitted to Carolyn Farrell, Director Awards and Honours, Dean’s Office, Room 170, Galbraith Building, Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering, no later than Friday, May 1, 2009. Evidence of support for the nomination should be limited to five documents such as biographical material, letters of support, and citations. Documents with multiple signatures are welcomed.

Employees who were nominated last year, but were unsuccessful, will automatically be considered for the 2008-09 award. Updated letters in support of these individuals are welcomed. Previous winners are not eligible to receive a second award.

The Agnes Kaneko award provides an excellent opportunity to recognize the many wonderful achievements of the Faculty’s administrative and technical staff. For further information, please contact Carolyn Farrell at 416-978-8666 or by email at carolyn.farrell@utoronto.ca.
