2010 Governing Council Student Nominations

 
   
 

Have you ever wondered how your university is governed? Would you like to contribute to policy decisions that affect you and your fellow students?  If so, consider standing for election to the Governing Council as a student member.

Governing Council is the senior governing body of the University of Toronto, responsible for overseeing the academic, business, and student affairs of the University. Matters approved by the Council and its Boards include campus and student services; major changes in academic programs and units; policies on admissions and awards, tuition and ancillary fees, research, and grading practices; long range budget guidelines and annual budget reports and capital plans.  You can learn more about the work of the Governing Council and its Boards and Committees.

Nominations for four full-time undergraduate, two part-time undergraduate, and two graduate student seats on Governing Council will be accepted between Fri., Jan. 8, 2010 at 12:00 noon and Fri., Jan. 22, 2010 at 5:00 p.m.  All student seats will be for a one-year term from July 1, 2010 to June 30, 2011.

Nomination forms will be available as of Jan. 8 online and from the Office of the Governing Council, Room 106, Simcoe Hall, 27 King’s College Circle.  Prospective candidates are advised to review the Election Guidelines, 2010, which will take effect December 11, 2009, subject to approval of the Governing Council.

Please note that the University of Toronto Act, 1971 requires that members of the Governing Council be Canadian citizens.
