Robert Andrews Receives the OWWA George Warren Fuller Award

Professor Robert C. Andrews, of the Department of Civil Engineering, has received the 2009 George Warren Fuller Award from the Ontario Water Works Association (OWWA), a section of the American Water Works Association. The Fuller Award is OWWA’s highest honour, and is presented to one member each year in recognition of distinguished service to the water supply field. Professor Andrews is only the second academic to receive the award in OWWA’s history.

Robert Andrews holds a NSERC Industrial Research Chair in Drinking Water Research. He founded the Drinking Water Research Group at the University of Toronto in 1998. He is internationally recognized as an expert in drinking water treatment and is a member of numerous decision-making committees and advisory councils in Canada and the United States. Professor Andrews is a past co-recipient of the NSERC Synergy Award for University-Industry Partnerships and was the 2007 recipient of the OWWA Norman Howard Award for dedication and leadership in the water treatment industry. In 2007 he received the Department of Civil Engineering’s Awards for excellence in both Research and Teaching.

“I am delighted that Professor Andrews has been recognized by the OWWA for his many valuable contributions to the profession,” said Cristina Amon, Dean, Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering. “He is a world-leader in his field and a dedicated member of his professional community and the Faculty.”

Professor Andrews received his award at a ceremony on May 9, 2009 as part of OWWA’s annual conference.
