Appointment of Chair of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering

Professor Jun Nogami has been appointed Chair of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering for a five-year term beginning January 1, 2009.

A U of T Engineering Science graduate (8T0), Jun completed a doctorate in Applied Physics at Stanford in 1986. After a post-doctoral fellowship and a research associate appointment at Stanford, he went on to hold professorial appointments at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Michigan State University. image

He was appointed as a Professor in the MSE Department in 2004 and has served as Associate Chair of the Division of Engineering Science since 2007.

His commitment to the Faculty, his loyalty to the University and his accomplishments as a researcher and educator will greatly enhance his leadership of the Department.
