Faculty Energy Research Showcase

On Thursday, June 19, the Faculty will be hosting an Energy Research Showcase from 12:00 - 4:00 pm in the Bahen Centre. This event will be an opportunity for faculty engaged in energy-related research to showcase their research for representatives from industry and funding agencies.  There will be graduate student posters, presentations from faculty members and a reception.

We are requesting assistance from faculty members in organizing the event and inviting appropriate industry representatives.  If you would like to participate in this event or if there is anyone you would like the Research Office to invite, please email Stewart Aitchison.

Celebrating Success Reception

This academic year has been an extremely successful one for the Faculty; our researchers have received many honours, awards, and significant grants in recognition of their outstanding contributions.

Please join us on Thursday, June 12, from 5:00 - 7:00 pm, in the Debates Room at Hart House, as we celebrate a successful academic year and honour the achievements of our faculty. If you wish to attend, please RSVP to Carolyn Farrell by Friday May 9.

Funding Opportunity  for Cooperation with Norwegian Universities

As part of a new strategy for cooperation between Norway and North America, the Norwegian Ministry for Education and Research recently announced a call for partnerships for higher education collaboration between Norwegian and Canadian universities through the SIU (the Norwegian Centre for International Cooperation in Higher Education).

The program covers all academic disciplines and provides support for: mobility of faculty and students; development of common modules; curricula; joint degrees; setting up summer schools; etc. While it must be the Norwegian institutions that apply for the funding, the money can be spent in both countries. A statement from the Canadian partner is required for the application, so if this program is of interest to you, please contact your Norwegian partner and explore this possibility.

If you require more information, please review the funding information sheet, or contact Robert White at (613) 563-3961 ext. 284.

Today Ontario Innovation Agenda

Today Ontario has announced its innovation agenda and all those investigators working on CFI proposals and future MRI and Ontario projects will be very interested to read this document.

Strategic priorities include:

  • Bio-economy and clean technologies
  • Advanced health technologies
  • Pharmaceutical health and manufacturing
  • Digital Media and Information and communications technology

You will also see sections on leveraging skills and knowledge and this highlights the role of the humanities and social sciences.
